Last Friday morning we celebrated St Patty's day a little early with a few other toddlers. While Noelle was in school, Kellen had a few friends come on over to play and do a few Irish inspired crafts. First up, making rainbow necklaces with fruit loops. K and most of the other kids were more interested in eating their materials than stringing the necklaces together but I think one kid (and a few moms) were actually in to the project. Second up, we used corks to stamp shamrocks on paper. Yay, finally a use for my old corks! On pinterest the shamrocks of course looked perfect. I had visions of us letting these masterpieces dry and then us drawing cute little stems on with markers. The actual product was a green smeary mess but at least the kids had fun playing with a little paint.
The crafts took about 7 minutes combined as is customary for toddlers. The playing was actually fairly nice though - Kellen is struggling with sharing but generally the kids played nicely together. So even without a great attention to crafts, the playdate was still a success. Have a happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
