Inspired by our Moroccan theme dinner earlier this fall, the Miami of Ohio - Maryland Chapter got together last Saturday sans little people to have a themed meal together. This time we focused on an ingredient (although we weren't trying to be gourmet)! Lindsay, having most recently lived in Vermont, selected maple syrup from the long list of potential candidates and we were on our way to planning a lovely feast. We decided six courses and three total bottles of wine were more than adequate for our bunch so the line-up was as follows:
Appetizer: Brie with a maple syrup nut topping served with pears
Salad: Spinach Salad with Maple Toasted Walnuts and Goat Cheese with a Balsamic Dressing
Entree: Chili Maple-Glazed Pork Medallions
Side: Bacon Wrapped-Asparagus with a Maple Dressing
Side: Roasted Root Vegetables with a Maple Glaze
Dessert: Apple Crumble with Maple Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream
We paired the appetizer, entree, and dessert with wine. Everything was excellent and it was great to sit down for a few hours, tell stories, and laugh without chasing after our four little ones! Our hope is that we'll do a kid-free event once a season - themed meals in fall and spring and Baltimore restaurant week in winter and summer. We can't wait for our next meeting of this group! Thanks for a lovely night!
