Jockey's Ridge

Vacation, finally! Although any trip with Noelle is hard to consider a vacation, what with 6 am (at the latest) wake-up calls and her constant motion! But still, we are excited to be at the beach!

After a late Thursday night/Friday morning arrival and some initial craziness at 12:30 in the morning as everyone got introduced to the new Hayhoe puppy, we got right in to the swing of things and hit the beach and pool Friday. Not wanting to miss out on any of the fun the OBX offers, we decided despite our 3 hours of sleep, what could be more fun than climbing huge sand dunes with an almost 2 year old and a 12 week old puppy! Actually, it was pretty fun, although not something I'd highly recommend to women enterring their 8 month of pregnancy!


The Sand Dunes

If you haven't been to Jockey's Ridge and the OBX, you certainly should go. Basically it is a park that consists of huge sand dunes right between the ocean and sound where the island is at one of its thinest points. Every day, people hang glide and parasail, and in the evenings they have ranger-lead sunset programs that are just beautiful. We didn't stay for that since we wanted Noelle to get a good night sleep after the previous night, but we climbed the hill, people watched for a bit, and then most of the group enjoyed the requisite run down the "big" hill to the bottom.

After Noelle's trip up and then down the big dune, she couldn't quite walk back to the parking lot. Since her "mean" mommy and daddy wouldn't carry her, she had to resort to this!



All in all it was a fun experience! We'll post on the beach and pool soon!
