Disney Day One: Everything Pop!

On Sunday morning we got up early, packed up the car, and headed for BWI. Our flight was at 8:30 and I hoped that with the early wake up Kellen would take his morning nap while we were flying. That wasn't to be the case, but both kids were well behaved on the flight (although holding a squirmy baby in your lap for 2 hours is quite difficult!) Thank goodness we had our own row of three seats to spread out on!

When we got to Orlando, we hopped the Magical Express shuttle to our resort Pop Century. Bryan and I have stayed there before and while a small value resort, it offers the perks of staying on Disney property for less money so we decided to head there again. It was fine for our needs, although the small room with two double beds and pack-n-play was a bit tight for the four of us. We may need to splurge for a bigger room for our next trip!

We got checked in quickly and then headed over to meet my family at the Magic Kingdom. Noelle loved seeing grandma, Pop Pop, and Uncle Mike, and thought the castle was pretty cool too!

 

 

Then we met Mickey Mouse and thanked him for letting us come play at his house!

Finally we hit a few rides before heading over to Epcot for the evening. We started out with the race cars in Tomorrowland and then Bryan and I hit Space Mountain and the People Mover while Noelle and Kellen checked out Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, and the carousel with the Hayhoes. Then we met up for It's a Small World, another round of Dumbo, the tea cups, and Noelle's ride on Goofy's Barnstormer roller coaster with Bryan. Kel woke up from his nap while they were in line and clapped along to the  music while we waited!

Magic Kingdom was closing early for a Halloween party so we rode the monorail over to Epcot to ride a few rides, check out the food and wine festival, and watch Illuminations. After Illuminations the line for Soarin' was only 5 minutes so I rode with my family while Bryan sat with our sleeping children. It was certainly a long day with a 5 am wake up and a 10:15 return to our hotel, but it was a great first day! Day two, Animal Kingdom, coming up soon!
